Waxy texture. Background varies from white to pale yellow but is almost entirely covered in cherry/burgundy spots. Each flower is unique. Dark green, very thick leaves.
Lighting: Effect on Color
Light is critical. Low light causes pale blooms and weak spots. West or East windows are best. South windows need a sheer curtain to prevent black burn spots on leaves.
Watering and Humidity
Soak for 15 mins when roots turn silvery. Use water slightly warmer than room temp. Don't let it go 'bone dry' for long, but don't leave roots in standing water. Don't spray/mist the plant itself.
Substrate and Pot Choice
Clear plastic pot with side drainage holes is best. Use pine bark (1-2 cm) and charcoal. Sphagnum moss on top helps keep surface roots from drying.
How to Achieve Endless Blooms?
Main secret is its ability to wake up dormant buds. If the spike tip is green, it will grow more. If dry, cut 1 cm above the last dormant bud to trigger a side branch.
Diseases
Sturdy but prone to Fusarium if overwatered (wilted leaves). Treat with fungicides like 'Maxim' during repotting. Watch for mealybugs in spike joints.
